17 DAYS OF SPIRITUAL WISDOM

Spiritual Resilience

Sometimes life throws you some real curveballs to deal with. To put it mildly!

It certainly can feel like a rollercoaster at times.

Relationships, work, health…

But we move forward. We go on. Sometimes easily, other times it’s a hard slog. But we may be more resilient than we may give ourselves credit for. Affirming that you are inherently resilient can help you keep a positive attitude towards the difficult issues you may face. That positive attitude and belief in yourself can give you strength and comfort to get through certain bad situations.

The spiritual path is not easy. If it was easy, probably more people would do it. But when we are given challenges it is because we are ready for that particular lesson.

We have outstanding advice from the Cosmic Masters about how to deal with the ups and downs of life. They teach us that we should detach from our own personal problems and focus on Service. This doesn’t mean we ignore our problems. Not at all. We have to be practical about these problems. We have bills to pay. We have to look after our health and so on. We can’t just sit in meditation all day and ignore these things. They won’t go away simply because we’re doing spiritual things. But we can change how we view the ups and downs of life and this can help us through them.

In The Nine Freedoms, Mars Sector 6 said:

Break away from your own troubles by concentrating upon the sufferings of others.

Especially when we are having a difficult time, it is easy to become overwhelmed with our problems. All of us, at various times, go through very serious events which shake us to our core and pull the rug out from underneath us.

Of course, we should all take responsibility and face our problems. But we can also maintain spiritual service as a priority.

Why should we do this? Well firstly, service is what our higher self wants us to do. And we feel an inner spiritual joy when we act in line with our higher selves.

Secondly, focusing on service gives our struggles more context. We can see a bigger picture when we turn our attention to helping others.

Thirdly, by helping others, we can’t help but also help ourselves, even if this is not our motive.

I heard a quote recently from a character on a TV show. I know it’s scripted, but I heard it when I was having a bad week and it spoke to me.

The character said: “Are you having a bad week? Yes. Do I feel bad for you? No. Why? Because there are people who are a lot worse off.”

This is the bigger picture that service gives us. We have bad times, but focusing on the sufferings of others not only makes us feel that we aren’t alone, but it also reminds us that there are other big issues in the world and other people need help.

In a lecture from 1971, Dr. George King said:

Many people fall by the wayside, leave the straight and narrow road because things get difficult for them and, if they were to keep along this road for just a little while longer, many of these difficulties would be resolved.

In the same lecture he said:

Life is difficult but not impossible. I don’t think that any man is given a problem to solve unless it is known that he can solve that problem providing he uses courage and determination and has faith in his own abilities, his higher abilities and probably, sometimes even, in the abilities of others. I don’t think he’s given any problem that’s too great for him.

This is Karmic Law. We would not be given any experience that is too much for us. The Cosmic Masters also give us some wonderful encouragement in certain Transmissions.

In the first of The Twelve Blessings, The Master Jesus says:

Oh workers, who in unselfish sacrifice, share the burden with your brothers, I say unto you, that even though the way be rough and long and dark, you will be helped and guided in your passage, so that you may guide and help those stumbling ones who see not the Light — in the midst of Light. Who feel not the warmth of the Heart of God. Who hear not the voice of their real Selves.

You help these — and you will be great, even though you seek not praise.

We are told that for every step we take towards the Cosmic Masters, they will take two steps towards us. We don’t know how they are able to help us through difficult times, but they definitely are.

Then, in the third Blessing he says about those who love:

These Ones, often in great pain and anguish themselves, think naught of this but do transmute the very forces of Holy Nature into this Mighty Energy called Love, so that they may give it freely to those who need it.

Don’t you sometimes find that when you are feeling down, or angry, or frustrated or tired, that you come to a Service and you are lifted up? Your load is lightened, your shoulders feel less heavy?

We are resilient. We may not always feel like it, but we can keep taking steps forward. Sometimes they are small steps, sometimes unfortunately we backtrack a little, but we can go on.

We have wonderful examples of this in our teachings that we can look to for inspiration.

When Dr. King was going to be on stage at Caxton Hall for his first public Transmission, his healing group, just on the verge of this Transmission, walked out on him, leaving him completely alone.

Imagine what he was feeling. He had told his Healing Circle what was going to happen.

Here he was, for the first time receiving a Transmission publicly, knowing that he had to enter a very dangerous state. He would have wanted their support, but he was all alone.  Nevertheless, he went on stage, he entered the dangerous trance state and he received the Transmission anyway.

In an example from 1978, one of the Directors of The Aetherius Society lost her beloved dog to a tragic accident. Dr. King saw the distress that this caused her, and contacted the Cosmic Master Mars Sector 8 – Special Advisor S2, hoping that he could locate the dog on the subtle realms.

It is unknown how many hundreds of thousands of animals die each day, but this Master was able to find the dog on the other realms in just six minutes! Dr. King then immediately reached out to Adept Number Five, who said that he would “make contact.”

The Adepts make it a point to turn a negative situation into a positive one whenever possible, and this case was no exception. Adept Number Four and Adept Number Five advised that auric surgery was performed on the dog, and no auric blemishes remained.

Additionally, the recovery time for the dog would be very short. But that is not where this story ends. Inspired by this incredible example of compassion and service, hundreds of humanitarians on the other realms stepped forward and volunteered to help other animals who were also in need of this auric surgery.

In January 1979, Dr. King received this message from Adept Number Four and Adept Number Five:

The training programme we initiated to train suitable candidates in our specialized method of psychic surgery, for the benefit of animals with mutilated subtle bodies, has already reached such gigantic proportions that we have to train and appoint more than 100 organizers to control it. This is not the only animal rescue service on these realms but is the most specialized in auric surgery to severe cases.

This is an incredible story of compassion for animals and spiritual action. The Adepts, although busy with dangerous and life-saving work, have gone out of their way to help animals. They even established a Psychic Surgery Clinic for this help to carry on in the future. A brilliant karmic manipulator, Dr. King was able to turn a negative situation into a positive one.

There are of course countless examples to share. But the way that Dr. King never let a bad situation stop him from his Mission – is highly inspiring.

On April 21st, 1964 Mars Sector 6 told us to use Dr. King as an example on how to live our lives. He said:

If you want a pattern, it is in front of you. If you pattern your spiritual lives upon the man who suffers great limitation on your behalf, then you will not go far wrong. That I declare to you.

So let us all look forward on our journey. We will have bumps in the road and steep mountains to climb. But that is why we are here, to reach greater heights. And to help others do the same.

It is not an easy path. But when we come across a new challenge, just remember that you are ready for it. You CAN handle it.

Performing spiritual practices, such as chanting mantra, pranayama and prayer, as well as studying spiritual teachings are vital for spiritual resilience. Apart from keeping your vibrations high, they also can open you up to great inspiration.

I’ll end with one of my favorite quotes, which always reminds me to feel grateful for all of my experiences, even the difficult ones. On September 27th, 1958 The Master Aetherius gave a Transmission entitled “Appeal to the World Citizens.” In this he said:

By your standards I would be considered to be a person of some experience. I have lived upon hundreds of different inhabited worlds throughout the Solar and Galactic Systems, I have lived even among you people upon Terra, at different times.

You would think that I am ancient. I am ancient – by your standards. Yet never, dear friends, in the whole of this experience, have I seen people who have been given greater opportunity than that offered to you now.

Your opportunities are Divine – wholly Divine.

You can advance a thousand lives in the next few years – or go back ten thousand.

I leave you now with that choice – for it is yours to make – and only you can make it.

Make it well, oh brothers. MAKE IT WELL!
